Northern Ontario Council
It starts with Scouts.
Northern Ontario Council and Camp Wilabosca are very pleased to announce it is the recipient of Government of Canada funding through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF). Matching funds for this important project are being provided by the Camp Committee for Camp Wilabosca.
Camp Wilabosca has been owned and operated by Scouts Canada since 1940 and our facilities are open for use by youth and not-for-profit groups including Scouts, Guides, Cadets and church & school youth groups. With the completion of this project, we will be able to reach out to new partners to offer camping experiences accessible to youth and adults with disabilities.
The Camp Wilabosca project focuses on improved accessibility for Ontarians with disabilities to our washroom & shower facilities within the camp property. The project will include upgrades and changes to the main entrances, throughway doors and installation of new energy efficient, water saving appliances. The washrooms within Main Lodge are being renovated to alleviate barriers in accordance with existing codes.
This is the next phase in renovating our Main Lodge for more extensive use in the future and we are pleased to be partnering with the Federal Government as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
